Benedictine Oblate Meetings
For information call Fr Ray Roh, 805-544-1810

An Oblate is a lay or clerical, single or married, associate formally associated to a particular monastery. The Oblate seeks to live a life in harmony with the spirit of St. Benedict as revealed in the Rule of Saint Benedict and its contemporary expression. The Oblates affiliated with Saint John's Abbey publish The Oblate  a unique online Benedictine Oblate program with People from around the world http://www.yanktonbenedictines.org/oblates_booc_intro.html

The Order of Saint Benedict

If you want to receive a daily reading from the Rule of St Benedict, go to this website and insert your Email address in the box:

http://www.osb.org/rb/show.asp?mode=today

Dear St. Benedict, you are a "blessing" indeed, as your name indicates. Practicing what you preached, you founded the monastic tradition of the West by joining prayer to labor for God. Help all who follow their Rule to be true to their vocation. May they labor and pray for the world to the greater glory of God. Amen.

PRAYER OF ST. BENEDICT
O gracious and holy Father,
give us wisdom to perceive you,
diligence to seek you,
patience to wait for you,
eyes to behold you,
a heart to meditate upon you,
and a life to proclaim you; through the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

The Monastery of the Risen Christ

The Monastery of the Risen Christ is a Benedictine Monastery started as a mission from Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery, Pecos, NM, in 1987, by Fr. Ray Roh, O.S.B. In 1992, it became independent and Abbot David Geraets, O.S.B. was made Superior. Current members include Abbot David, Father Ray, Fr. Stephen Odenbrett, Fr. Albert Meyer, Fr. Steve Coffey, Fr. Ray Greco (retired), Brother Alfonso Daniel, novice, and Connie Mayrhofer.

The Monastery is located on a 40 acre ranch just outside San Luis Obispo. There are currently no retreat facilities, but anyone is welcome to come to the Monastery prayer times and make private retreats with the members while staying elsewhere. The members engage in numerous kinds of apostolates, from parish and prison ministry to retreats, workshops, parish missions, spiritual conferences. A number of members are always available for  Spiritual Direction.

The Monastery operates a School for Spiritual Directors at the Mission renewal Center in Santa Barbara, CA in the summer. Participants can study the spiritual life for their own growth and to help others with their growth. Contact Abbot David or Connie Mayrhofer for more information.

Another active apostolate is the Benedictine Oblate Program, a lay affiliate program. Currently groups meet in Redondo Beach, San Luis Obispo, Santa Cruz, Pacific Grove, Vacaville, Stockton, Bakersfield and Hanford, California. For information contact: Fr, Ray Roh, Oblate Director.

For spiritual guidance, please call Abbot David, Fr. Ray,
or Fr. Steve (805) 544-1810. Call Connie at (805) 544-7808
