Dear St.
Benedict, you are a "blessing" indeed, as your name indicates. Practicing
what you preached, you founded the monastic tradition of the West by
joining prayer to labor for God. Help
all who follow their Rule to be true to their vocation. May they labor and
pray for the world to the greater glory of God. Amen.

PRAYER BASKET
We have a "Prayer Basket" near the tabernacle in our chapel.
Call or write with your requests, we will put them in
the basket and pray for your intentions.

The
Monastery of the Risen Christ
The Monastery of
the Risen Christ is a Benedictine Monastery started as a mission from Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery,
Pecos, NM, in 1987, by Fr. Ray Roh, O.S.B. In 1992, it became independent and Abbot David
Geraets, O.S.B. was made Superior. Current members include Abbot David, Father Ray, Fr.
Stephen Odenbrett, Fr. Albert Meyer, Fr. Ray Greco (retired), Brother Alfonso Daniel
OSB,
Junior Monk, Connie Mayrhofer and Br. Michael
Rodgers, Novice.
The Monastery is located on a 40 acre ranch just outside San Luis Obispo. There are currently
no retreat facilities, but anyone is welcome to come to the Monastery prayer times and
make private retreats with the members while staying elsewhere. The members engage in
numerous kinds of apostolates, from parish and prison ministry to retreats, workshops,
parish missions, spiritual conferences. A number of members are always available for
Spiritual Direction.
The Monastery operates a School for Spiritual Directors at the Mission renewal Center
in Santa Barbara, CA in the summer.
Participants can study the spiritual life for their own growth and to help
others with their growth. Contact Abbot David or Connie Mayrhofer for more information.
Another active apostolate is the Benedictine Oblate Program,
a lay affiliate program. Currently groups meet in Redondo Beach, San Luis
Obispo, Santa
Cruz, Pacific Grove, Vacaville,
Stockton, Bakersfield and Hanford, California. For information contact: Fr. Ray Roh, Oblate Director.
